What makes our handwoven textiles different<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Our way of weaving respects the most authentic meaning of this craft and clearly differentiates it from industrial weaving: we work by hand on non-mechanized low-warp looms.<\/p>

What does this mean? That the loom and the tools we use to weave are moved directly by our hands and feet. Not by motors or built-in automated systems. We insist on this point because, although it may seem obvious, it is sometimes overlooked. Handweaving means that there is a person operating the loom with every single pass. If that person is not there, quite simply, it is not handwoven cloth.<\/p>

Over all these years, we have developed our own methodology covering the entire process: design, loom preparation, weaving and finishing. We have specialised in weaving only with natural fibers of excellent quality, such as cotton, ramie, hemp, bamboo, soy, jute, wool, mohair, alpaca and silk, with particular attention to certified organic fibers and recycled natural fibers.<\/p>

Our knowledge of textile structures and of the behaviour of natural fibers allows us to control their appearance, drape, texture, density and durability, presenting pieces of excellence, from the simplest weaves to the most complex.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

We design these unique pieces inspired by everything around us: nature, sensations, music, colors and textures. This is a craft that allows us to develop creativity by weaving very diverse pieces, combining different patterns, densities, textures, fibers and dimensions. Woven on non-mechanized artisan looms<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We handweave the pieces on manual wooden artisan looms, without mechanization, moved by our hands and feet.<\/p>

Everything is produced by us; there is no subcontracting.<\/p>

Because our looms are not mechanized, and neither is any other stage of the artisan weaving process, our production capacity is limited. At the same time, this allows us to create an endless range of textures, forms and combinations, which we continue to renew through new and ongoing creations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Selvedges<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Two selvedges per piece: each piece is woven in one single process, with no cut selvedges or trimmed edges. This can be checked by looking at the edges. If there is a zigzag stitch running along them, usually with a very fine yarn over the cut threads, it is an unmistakable sign that the piece comes from mechanized or industrial production, where the full width is woven first and the individual pieces are then cut from that total width.<\/p>

Our pieces have exquisite selvedges, denser than the rest of the fabric, which extend the life of the piece and give it an impeccable finish. They are an unmistakable sign that these are artisan pieces, handwoven one by one on the loom.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Our pieces have no knots or joins in the fabric. Everything is \u201ccamouflaged\u201d in the selvedges with a hand stitch, in the manner of darning. Once again, this gives the piece a better finish and makes it more durable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Hemstitching or drawn-thread detail at the beginning and end of the fabric<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On all pieces, we sew small hand stitches at the beginning and end, as if making a hemstitch, on the first and second threads, so that the fabric does not begin to move down towards the fringes after later washes. Some pieces with short fringes may include another stitch, in this case a drawn-thread detail, which secures these first threads and gives the short fringes an impeccable finish. Both are small stitches made with a needle while the piece is still on the loom, always to improve the finish and quality and, at the same time, to enhance the beauty of the finished pieces.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Once each piece comes off the loom, it has two edges that we finish either with fringes or with a hem. The fringes may be twisted, knotted, finished with macram\u00e9, crochet, braids or simply cut. For hems, we reinforce the fabric with overlocking and always sew them by hand.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Some of our pieces include hand finishing to reinforce the hem or the selvedges, either on all sides of the piece or on the sides without fringes. On pieces such as ponchos, blankets and tablecloths, we create crochet work or decorative needle stitching that also enhances the final appearance of each piece.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Some of our textiles, in addition to being woven in our workshop, are presented as finished pieces for different uses, such as garments and fashion accessories, as well as home textiles and accessories. This is the case with jackets, kimonos, bags, baby booties, cushions, poufs, curtains, tablecloths and more. We also cut and sew by machine and by hand, according to the design and the finishing requirements of each piece, in our own workshop.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Once again, this is done by hand, always with mild detergent and cold water. This sometimes slows production down, but it is essential in order to offer the real measurements, because all artisan woven pieces shrink in the first wash. At the same time, we verify the quality of the fibers and, where applicable, the quality of the dyeing, while increasing the final softness of the fabric.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
