Design<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

This handwoven alpaca poncho combines plain weave, high- and low-warp techniques and r\u00f6llakan, using two types of shuttles to draw the hills from Garc\u00eda Madrid\u2019s design directly into the fabric.The neckline and the two front panels are shaped on the loom, so the cloth does not need to be cut afterwards. We selected the most suitable technique for this singular piece and wove it to shape, recreating the olive-covered hills of his homeland.Light, very warm and soft to the touch, the 100% alpaca fabric has excellent drape and flexibility, making the poncho comfortable and easy to wear. As an outer garment, it combines beautifully with many looks while remaining distinctive and versatile.It is finished with a hand-sewn hem and decorative hand stitching in the colour chosen by designer Manuel Garc\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Colour<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

We chose a natural tone as the base for the rust and grey hills.<\/p>\n

        Alpaca<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

        Alpaca originates in the Andes, Peru. It is an exquisite fibre with a series of characteristics that give it exceptional quality: it is very soft, very warm, thermo-regulating, does not retain odours, and its structure, with very few scales, means it hardly felts. Alpaca pieces provide a great deal of warmth while remaining light, and are very pleasant to wear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Finishes<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
          \n
        • Stitching:<\/strong> decorative and reinforcing stitch around all edges with double alpaca yarn.<\/li>\n
        • Thread ends:<\/strong> weft ends are manually worked into the selvedges with a needle to avoid knots in the fabric.<\/li>\n
        • Fringes:<\/strong> no fringes; the lower edges have been machine overlocked and hand sewn.<\/li>\n
        • Making:<\/strong> neckline finished with a hand-finished hem, side and central hems hand sewn.<\/li>\n
        • Washing:<\/strong> hand washed with natural soap to verify the quality of the fibre and the final measurements. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final dimensions. After subsequent hand washes, it does not shrink further.<\/li>\n
        • Ironing:<\/strong> hand steamed to enhance the finish, drape and texture.<\/li>\n
        • Brushing:<\/strong> brushed by hand to give it an even softer and more pleasant feel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Alpaca poncho handwoven on a loom. This poncho was born from a direct, precise and carefully agreed collaboration with menswear designer Manuel Garc\u00eda, for his contemporary tailoring brand Garc\u00eda Madrid. Manuel Garc\u00eda had a clear idea: to reflect part of the landscape of his beloved Ja\u00e9n. He developed a design of shapes and colours for a very special piece, enveloping and full of movement, to accompany one of the magnificent suits in his new menswear collection. In his words: \u201cChildhood memories, colours of the lands and fields before us. Imperfection and naturalness.\u201d As a result of this collaboration with Garc\u00eda Madrid, this poncho is an exceptional piece: for its design, its fibre, the handweaving techniques used on our loom, combining high and low warp, and all the hand finishes it contains, so it can be worn and re-worn for a long time as a timeless piece.<\/p>\n
