Horizons

Perspectives and absolute realities

Personal circumstances and emotions

Horizons is a textile work framed in olive wood. The lines of the weave symbolise the different realities that can be glimpsed across the various planes or lines of the horizon.

There is no single absolute reality, no universally true horizon towards which we all look.

What appears to be an absolute truth may be nuanced by the different realities and emotional circumstances of those who observe it, shaped by the many factors that condition perception.

A metaphor for the absence of absolute realities, each one conditioned by subjective emotional experience.

Techniques and dimensions

This handwoven textile was made on a low-warp loom using a complex eight-shaft variation of twill, with the finest natural alpaca yarns in undyed shades of grey, black, brown and beige.

Once removed from the loom, the piece was mounted in an olive-wood support frame that can be displayed on furniture or on a wall. Its box-like sides invite touch and help the textile retain its form.

Dimensions: 22 × 22 × 4.5 cm (width × height × depth).
