We are Ana Santiago and Francis Carrasco, co-founders of Ana and Francis Tejedores, a textile creation studio specialised in the development of artisan fabric on shaft looms, bringing together design, research, production and the transmission of the craft.
We began our project in 2007 with a handweaving workshop, born from a vital need and a shared dream: to turn this craft into our way of life.
Since then, we have continued learning, researching and expanding our knowledge of the possibilities and behaviour of handwoven textiles made on non-mechanised shaft looms.
I studied Labour Relations and, after almost fifteen years working in administration for private companies, I needed a change. After a profound reassessment of my life, I came to this craft. In 2005 I attended a basic weaving course, acquired my first loom, searched for specialised technical books and began to weave.
Since childhood I have been very meticulous, and during my student years I learned pattern making and sewing techniques from my mother, a humble and perfectionist village dressmaker who understood her work through respect and the satisfaction of delivering it well made. Now, as a professional handweaver, I apply all that knowledge to the finishing of my pieces.
After several years working in public and private companies, Francis was preparing for the public examinations to become an environmental officer when we decided to begin this new stage together.
His sensitivity towards nature, its cycles and respect for the life of all its inhabitants, flora and fauna, are part of his way of seeing. He also has a very personal perception of colour, light and chromatic combinations, close to poetry, which he brings to photography and also to the textiles.
Alongside that sensitivity, his infinite patience and deep wisdom have, since those first years, helped sustain and balance our way of working and of building our project together.
During the first years, our work focused on learning, practising and gaining the experience needed to design and produce our own textiles. Daily practice and technical study allowed us to deepen our knowledge of techniques and fibres, and established working principles that we still maintain today.
In 2014 we moved to Casa Forestal El Pilarillo, in Jaén, and in 2015 we opened the workshop to the public. In this new stage we included the possibility of discovering the workshop through guided visits and began to teach training courses. We also started working with other professionals on their projects and new textile proposals.
From 2020 onwards, we incorporated artistic textile work. Through our weaving, we wanted to present ideas and reflections connected with experiences, memories, emotions and how all of these can shape behaviour.
Throughout these years, from our first artisan workshop to our current textile creation studio, we have continued to deepen and expand our knowledge of weaving techniques and structures, the behaviour of fibres and the finishing of each piece. We have specialised in the development of handwoven textiles on shaft looms.
This specialisation and our own vision allow us to apply all this knowledge to our pieces, to training, to professional projects and to artistic creation. They allow us to continue researching, interpreting and, ultimately, developing the craft from this very personal way of understanding craftsmanship as a continuous search for beauty, excellence and perfection.
All this knowledge forms part of the way we develop our work, from the pieces we design and weave to training, artistic work, projects with other professionals and advice on looms.

As textile artists, we have developed a line of work inspired by how lived experiences, emotions and feelings condition social and personal behaviour. We take these reflections into highly textured, innovative and dreamlike textile research pieces, with the intention of bringing the viewer closer to the ideas presented.
