Where We Are

Sierra de Segura, Orcera

Casa Forestal El Pilarillo

Our workshop is located in the Sierra de Segura, 7 km from Orcera, in a unique setting: Casa Forestal El Pilarillo. Built around 1901, the house was fully restored by us to accommodate our workshop and become our permanent home.

The house stands just a few metres from one of the GR 247 long-distance walking routes, “Bosques del Sur”, Stage 1, “Peña del Olivar Recreation Area – Segura de la Sierra”. The route connects different destinations, hamlets and villages within the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park.

The mountain climate brings cold winters and cool summer nights that make for restful sleep. Surrounded by nature, with views in shades of green, blue and ochre and a rich variety of flora and fauna, we enjoy a profound sense of tranquillity and wellbeing. This is our home and our workshop: the place where we live, find inspiration and create.

In the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park

We decided to settle in this forest house because it seemed the ideal place to continue our work in a mountain setting surrounded by nature.

Its location within the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park made the process far from easy. However, thanks to our perseverance and the support we eventually received, the project we had proposed became a reality: to recover, establish, develop and share the craft of handweaving on floor looms, which had disappeared from Jaén.

In 2015, we began this new chapter at Casa Forestal El Pilarillo. Alongside our workshop practice, where we create pieces of fine craftsmanship and quiet luxury, we offer personalised guided visits free of charge, handweaving courses, and the opportunity to order or purchase a beautiful artisan loom.

During your visit, you can see the looms in operation while we introduce you to the craft and the world of handwoven textiles. You can also view our exhibition of finished pieces and visit the shop while enjoying the natural surroundings of the Sierra de Segura. You can book your visit here. Contact
