COBIJO, A Sound and Sensory Refuge

COBIJO, A Sound and Sensory Refuge

Cobijo is an experimental project by designers Damián López and Irene Corbacho from Leblume and artisans Ana Santiago and Francis Carrasco from Ana y Francis Tejedores, where design and craftsmanship merge with the idea of exploring the construction of objects through structural fabrics.

The result of this experimentation is Cobijo, a functional object with a sculptural character. The piece consists of a suspended acoustic ceiling with sound-absorbing properties that improve the listening quality of a space. To enhance the uniqueness of the fabrics, a LED lighting system controlled by Arduino is housed inside, allowing the fabric to be backlit and brought to life, transforming the object into a dim light lamp and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. A sound and sensory refuge that invites contemplation and relaxation.

For Cobijo, they created two complex and distinct fabric designs, each with different properties and handwoven on their looms, using only natural fibers. For the upper side, a denser felted wool fabric is used, and for the lower side, a lighter wool fleece fabric.
