Ashford Katie 8-shaft table loom 30 cm

In stock (can be backordered)

Ashford Katie 8-shaft table loom 30 cm. This is Ashford’s smallest 8-lever loom, robust and made for travel. With its 8 shafts, it is very easy to fold and store in the padded travel bag included, so you can weave simple and complex fabrics on an 8-shaft loom wherever you wish.

The maximum weaving width is 30 cm. It includes 320 heddles (40 heddles per shaft) and a 40/10 reed, allowing you to weave across the full width with the 8 shafts at an approximate maximum density of 10 ends per centimetre.

It is a comfortable loom to weave on. The beater is very comfortable to use, it has a wide shed and the shafts move easily.

My recommendation as a professional craftswoman and accredited Master Artisan is that you take a handweaving course on table looms before buying this loom. It is not an intuitive loom: here we are entering fully into the fascinating world of low-warp loom weaving, with weave structures and drafts. Please contact us with any questions; I will advise you personally.

To keep your loom in excellent condition for many years, we recommend:

  • Wipe it regularly with a dry cloth to remove dust.
  • Avoid using abrasive or wet products on the wood.
  • If you wish, you may occasionally apply a natural oil suitable for wood to nourish and protect it.
  • Check the tension of the heddles or reed according to use.
  • Store the loom in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight when not in use.
  • For folding models, close the loom correctly to avoid twisting.

Simple maintenance ensures a stable, quiet and durable tool.
