Handwoven recycled cotton and cashmere shawl. This shawl belongs to the “El Eterno Vaquero” collection, winner of the National Crafts Award in the Product category. It is woven with recycled denim fabric/cotton from used jeans and cashmere. It is light, sober and elegant, very different from conventional denim because of its density, texture and lace-type weave. It feels soft, flexible, breathable and adaptable. It provides medium/high warmth depending on whether you wear it as a shawl or as a scarf. It works beautifully with any garment, with coats, jackets, dresses… and combines easily with many styles, adding a distinctive touch in any season: on a cool summer evening, in between seasons or in winter as a large scarf that will keep you warm through its volume. It has a hand-sewn hem and no fringes. For those who love comfortable, versatile and timeless shawls.

Design

This recycled cotton and cashmere shawl, handwoven on a loom, has been woven in our own design variation of the complex lace technique, which gives flexibility, drape and softness, with small areas that allow the light to pass through, like an openwork effect. It is a durable, elegant or informal piece, and a very distinctive one. We have chosen to finish it without fringes; instead, it has a hand-sewn hem that gives it an impeccable finish.

Colour

It combines denim blue with light grey cashmere.
  • Warp: dark denim blue. (The base on which we weave). 
  • Weft: light grey cashmere. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

  • Composition: 50% recycled denim cotton with no added plastics, 50% cashmere.
  • Feel: soft, drapey and adaptable.
  • Texture: it has a fine texture.
  • Breathability: high, cotton and cashmere are comfortable and breathable fibres.
  • Warmth: medium as a shawl, high as a scarf. It is a very versatile shawl.

Fibres

  • 100% organic recycled cotton.

    This cotton is a sustainable fibre, made in Spain from recycled denim, organic cotton and Lenzing’s Refibra, a fibre composed of 70% FSC-certified wood cellulose and 30% recycled cotton cellulose, without PET. It is soft, adaptable and very pleasant to wear. It is resistant and durable. Like other cotton fibres, depending on the thickness of the yarn, it can be used both in summer, when fine and fresh, and in winter, when thicker and warmer.

  • Cashmere.

    Cashmere is one of the finest and most exquisite animal fibres. It is extremely soft, light, warm and pleasant against the skin. Its delicacy gives the piece an elegant drape and a refined feel, with warmth and comfort without excessive weight.

Finishes

  • Stitching: in this case, it has been machine overlocked to prevent fraying, hidden inside the hem.
  • Thread ends: weft ends are manually worked into the selvedges with a needle to avoid knots in the fabric.
  • Fringes: it has no fringes; it has a hem with an invisible hand stitch on both sides.
  • Washing: hand washed with natural soap to verify the quality of the fibre and the final measurements. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final dimensions. After subsequent hand washes, it does not shrink further.
  • Ironing: hand steamed to enhance the finish, drape and texture.

To keep your piece as impeccable as the first day, please follow these care recommendations:

  • Washing: hand wash with mild detergent and cold water.
  • Drying: wrap a towel around the clothesline, secure it with two pegs, and hang the piece vertically to avoid marks and make ironing easier if needed.
  • Ironing: no special care is required; in general, use the temperature recommended by your iron for the type of fiber. If the piece contains more than one fiber, always choose the lowest temperature.
  • Storage: keep your piece in its box or bag, so it is always ready to use.
