This alpaca scarf is a classic: understated, elegant or informal depending on how you style it. It feels soft and very pleasant to wear. Without being bulky, it is very warm thanks to the qualities of alpaca fibre, which has a very high warmth-to-weight ratio, among other properties. It combines with many styles and can be worn in different ways. It works beautifully with coats or jackets; its width and length make it very comfortable to wear throughout winter. We have left the fringes short, with hand-worked hemstitching on the loom, giving it a simple and elegant appearance. For lovers of very warm, comfortable, versatile and timeless scarves.

Design

This alpaca scarf, handwoven on a loom, has been woven in plain weave with a blend of alpaca fibres in the weft, giving it a very distinctive gradient effect. This technique gives the fabric flexibility and softness, bringing an elegant touch to the alpaca textile. It is a medium-weight, soft, warm and versatile fabric.

Colour

We have chosen two combined colours. Timeless and easy to combine:
  • Warp: combination of natural white, beige, grey and black tones. (The base on which we weave). 
  • Weft : combination of natural white, beige, grey and black tones. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

  • Composition: 100% undyed natural alpaca.
  • Feel: very soft, with body and drape.
  • Texture: it has a medium texture.
  • Breathability: high; alpaca is a fully breathable fibre.
  • Warmth: high; suitable for cold areas or people who feel the cold easily.

Fibres

  • Alpaca

    Alpaca comes from the Andes in Peru. It is an exquisite fibre with qualities that give it exceptional quality: it is very soft, very warm, thermoregulating, does not retain odours and, because its structure has very few scales, it does not felt easily. Alpaca pieces provide a great deal of warmth while remaining light, making them very pleasant to wear.

Finishes 

  • Stitching: hand-worked hemstitching on the first and last threads to prevent the fabric from unravelling.
  • Thread finishing: the weft ends are sewn in by hand with a needle at the selvedges, avoiding joining knots in the fabric.
  • Fringes: short, neat and grouped with hemstitching.
  • Washing: a mano con jabón natural para verificar la calidad de la fibra y la medida final.   En el primer lavado las fibras se recolocan y el tejido toma sus medidas finales. Después con los siguientes lavados a mano, no encoge más.
  • Ironing: hand-steamed to enhance its finishes, drape and texture.
  • Brushing: brushed by hand to give it an even softer, more pleasant feel.

To keep your piece as impeccable as the first day, please follow these care recommendations:

  • Washing: hand wash with mild detergent and cold water.
  • Drying: wrap a towel around the clothesline, secure it with two pegs, and hang the piece vertically to avoid marks and make ironing easier if needed.
  • Ironing: no special care is required; in general, use the temperature recommended by your iron for the type of fiber. If the piece contains more than one fiber, always choose the lowest temperature.
  • Storage: keep your piece in its box or bag, so it is always ready to use.
