Design

We have woven this handwoven merino wool and alpaca cushion using an elaborate twill-variation technique to create a textured, striking and distinctive fabric. It is machine sewn with overlocked seams so that the fabric does not fray. It has a zip so the cover can be removed and washed comfortably, and it has been washed, ironed and brushed so that it is very soft to the touch. The inner cushion, which does not come into contact with the skin, also has a zip, is washable, and can be made of hollow polyester fibre or washed natural wool.

Colour

We have chosen a light beige tone, elegant and easy to combine.

• Warp: light beige merino wool. (The base on which we weave). 
• Weft: black and grey alpaca. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

• Composition: 50% merino wool, 50% alpaca.
• Touch: very soft, with a flexible body.
• Texture: it has a very pleasant medium texture.
• Breathability: high, a characteristic of wool fibre.
• Warmth: high; it warms and comforts.

Fibres

• Merino wool.

Merino wool is a fibre obtained from the fleece of sheep. There are different types of wool depending on the breed; merino wool is among the finest qualities. It is very soft, flexible, breathable and warm, and it retains colour beautifully.

• Alpaca. Alpaca originates in the Andes, Peru. It is an exquisite fibre obtained from the fleece of the alpaca, with a series of qualities that give it exceptional quality: it is very soft, very warm, thermoregulating, does not retain odours, and its structure, with very few scales, means it felts very little. Alpaca pieces provide a great deal of warmth even when the final fabric is fine.

Finishing

• Stitching: double-needle machine overlock stitching so the fabric does not fray.
• Sewing: machine sewn in our workshop.
• Zip: sewn into one side to make removing and washing the cover easier.
• Washing: washed by hand with natural soap to verify the quality of the fibre, the dyeing and the final size. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final dimensions. With subsequent hand washes, it will not shrink further.
• Ironing: steamed by hand to enhance its finish and texture.
• Brushing: brushed by hand to increase its softness.

• Technique: handwoven with a variation of the twill technique on an unmechanised artisan loom. Sewn with overlocked seams.
• Measurements: 41 cm × 46 cm.
• Origin: made by us in Spain.
