Handwoven merino wool cushion. These cushions are soft, plump and very comfortable. Woven with natural merino wool and dyed merino wool, they bring warmth and invite rest. Wool keeps the back warm and feels deeply comforting. They are versatile cushions that combine well with many different interior styles, for a sofa, an armchair, a bed… They can also be paired with the blankets. The weave has a medium density and a high warmth capacity.

Design

We have woven this handwoven merino wool cushion using an elaborate twill-variation technique to create a textured, striking and distinctive fabric. It has pinkish mauve lines that add a subtle contrast. It is machine sewn with overlocked seams so that the fabric does not fray. It has a zip so the cover can be removed and washed comfortably, and it has been washed, ironed and brushed so that it is very soft to the touch. The inner cushion, which does not come into contact with the skin, also has a zip, is washable, and can be made of hollow polyester fibre or washed natural wool.

Colour

We have chosen a light beige tone, elegant and easy to combine.
  • Warp: light beige. (The base on which we weave). 
  • Weft: red and pinkish mauve. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

  • Composition: 100% merino wool in a fine, extra-soft yarn.
  • Touch: very soft, with a flexible body.
  • Texture: it has a very pleasant medium texture.
  • Breathability: high, a characteristic of wool fibre.
  • Warmth: high; it warms and comforts.

Fibres

  • Lana merina: Merino wool is a fibre obtained from the fleece of sheep. There are different types of wool depending on the breed; merino wool is among the finest qualities. It is very soft, flexible, breathable and warm, and it retains colour beautifully.

Finishing

  • Stitching: double-needle machine overlock stitching so the fabric does not fray.
  • Sewing: machine sewn in our workshop.
  • Zip: sewn into one side to make removing and washing the cover easier.
  • Washing: washed by hand with natural soap to verify the quality of the fibre, the dyeing and the final size. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final dimensions. With subsequent hand washes, it will not shrink further.
  • Ironing: steamed by hand to enhance its finish and texture.
  • Brushing: brushed by hand to increase its softness.

  • Technique: handwoven with a variation of the twill technique on an unmechanised artisan loom. Sewn with overlocked seams.

To keep your piece as impeccable as the first day, please follow these care recommendations:

  • Washing: hand wash with mild detergent and cold water.
  • Drying: wrap a towel around the clothesline, secure it with two pegs, and hang the piece vertically to avoid marks and make ironing easier if needed.
  • Ironing: no special care is required; in general, use the temperature recommended by your iron for the type of fiber. If the piece contains more than one fiber, always choose the lowest temperature.
  • Storage: keep your piece in its box or bag, so it is always ready to use.
