Handwoven vegan recycled cotton cushion.

Design

This handwoven vegan recycled cotton cushion is woven in an elaborate variation of the technique known as “honeycomb”, creating a textured, striking and distinctive fabric with gentle undulations that form highlighted oval shapes. We weave with two shuttles to combine the two cotton yarns and colours. It is a high-quality upholstery fabric, with medium density and low warmth capacity. The back is made from fabric in the same recycled cotton, produced by the same Spanish company that prepares the yarn for this recycled denim cotton. It is machine sewn with overlocked seams so that the fabric does not fray. We have added a zip so the cover can be removed and washed comfortably. It has already been washed and ironed. The inner cushion, which does not come into contact with the skin, is made of hollow polyester fibre, is lined, has a zip and is also washable.

Colour

It has the same colour in both directions.

• Warp: dark blue recycled denim cotton. (The base on which we weave). 
• Weft: dark blue recycled denim cotton and green mercerised cotton. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

• Composition: 90% recycled denim cotton with no added plastics, 10% mercerised cotton.
• Touch: soft and full-bodied.
• Texture: it has a medium texture.
• Breathability: high; cotton is a breathable fibre.
• Warmth: low.

Fibres

• 100% organic recycled denim cotton.

  This cotton is a sustainable fibre made in Spain from recycled jeans, organic cotton and Lenzing’s Refibra, a fibre composed of 70% FSC-certified wood cellulose and 30% recycled cotton cellulose, with no PET. It is a soft, adaptable fibre, very pleasant to use. It is resistant and durable. Like other cotton fibres, depending on the thickness of the yarn it can be used in summer, fine and cool, or in winter, thicker and warmer.

• Mercerised cotton.

Mercerised cotton is a fibre with a subtle sheen and high wear resistance thanks to the mercerisation treatment. It is soft, flexible and durable, and allows a wide range of colours.

Finishing

• Stitching: double-needle machine overlock stitching so the fabric does not fray.
• Sewing: machine sewn in our workshop.
• Zip: sewn into one side to make removing and washing the cover easier.
• Washing: washed by hand with natural soap to verify the quality of the fibre, the dyeing and the final size. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final dimensions. With subsequent hand washes, it will not shrink further.
• Ironing: steamed by hand to enhance its finish and texture.
