Handwoven vegan recycled cotton scarf. Piece 1

120,00

In stock

Handwoven vegan recycled cotton scarf. This scarf belongs to the “El Eterno Vaquero” collection, winner of the National Crafts Award in the Product category. It is woven with recycled cotton from used jeans and denim fabric, and is very different from conventional denim in design, density and texture. It is soft, flexible, breathable and adaptable. The fabric provides low to medium warmth. It looks beautiful with coats, jackets and jumpers; its width and length make it very comfortable to wear throughout winter. The fringes are held with hand-worked hemstitching, which fixes and orders them and gives them a simple, elegant appearance. For those who love comfortable, timeless scarves. Suitable for vegans and also for people with allergies or skin sensitivity.

Design

We have handwoven this scarf using a complex twill-block variation. This technique allows us to create very versatile pieces, with clearly marked horizontal and vertical lines and a repeated pattern that is striking and beautiful. It is a light, soft and durable fabric.

Colour

It has the same colour in both directions.
  • Warp: light denim blue. (The base on which we weave).
  • Weft: certified organic cotton in dark red. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Fabric and warmth

  • Composition: 100% recycled denim cotton, with no added plastics.
  • Feel: soft and flexible.
  • Texture: light and pleasant texture.
  • Breathability: high.
  • Warmth: low to medium; when worn close to the skin, this cotton helps maintain body warmth and temperature.

Fibres

  • 100% organic recycled cotton.

This cotton is a sustainable fibre, made in Spain from recycled jeans, organic cotton and Lenzing re-fibre, a fibre composed of 70% FSC-certified wood cellulose and 30% recycled cotton cellulose, with no PET. It is soft, adaptable and very pleasant to wear. It is resistant and durable. Like other cotton fibres, depending on the thickness of the yarn it can be used in summer, when fine and fresh, or in winter, when thicker and warmer.

  • Certified organic cotton.

Certified organic cotton is a fibre of exceptional quality. It receives no chemical treatments at any stage of cultivation or handling, from the plant to the fibre ready for weaving. There are three natural colours: ivory, beige and green. It is soft, flexible and hypoallergenic, suitable for people with skin sensitivity or allergies.

Finishes

  • Stitching: hand-worked hemstitching on the first and last threads so the fabric does not unravel.
  • Weft ends: manually woven in with a needle at the selvedges to avoid knots in the fabric.
  • Fringes: short, neat and grouped with the hemstitching.
  • Washing: hand washed with natural soap to check the quality of the fibre and the final measurements. In the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final size. After subsequent hand washes, it does not shrink further.
  • Ironing: hand pressed with steam to enhance the finish, drape and texture.

Techniques, measurements and origin

  • Technique: handwoven using a complex twill variation on a non-mechanised loom.
  • Measurements: 31.5 cm x 179 cm. (fringes included)
  • Origin: made by us in Spain.
  • Unique piece.
