This alpaca scarf is light, warm and made in cool colours; it can look elegant or informal depending on how you style it. It feels soft, flexible, has a pleasant drape and is very comfortable to wear. Without being bulky, it is very warm thanks to the natural qualities of alpaca fibre. It combines with many styles and can be knotted in different ways. It works well with any garment. It is very warm, thermoregulating, breathable and light. The fringes are knotted, giving a sense of movement.

Design

We have handwoven this scarf using the complex lace-weave technique. This technique gives the fabric flexibility, transparency, drape and softness, with the appearance of lace or even stained glass filtering the light, bringing an elegant touch to the alpaca textile. It is light, soft, warm and easy to combine.

Colour

  • Warp: combination of natural beige and brown tones. (The base on which we weave). 
  • Weft : black. (The fibre we pass across the base).

Weave and warmth

  • Composition: 100% undyed natural alpaca.
  • Feel: very soft, with body and drape.
  • Texture: it has a light texture.
  • Breathability: high; alpaca is a fully breathable fibre.
  • Warmth: high; suitable for cold areas or people who feel the cold easily.

Fibres

  • Alpaca.

    Alpaca comes from the Andes in Peru. It is an exquisite fibre with qualities that give it exceptional quality: it is very soft, very warm, thermoregulating, does not retain odours and, because its structure has very few scales, it does not felt easily. Alpaca pieces provide a great deal of warmth while remaining light, making them very pleasant to wear.

Finishes 

  • Stitching: hand-sewn running stitch on the first and last threads to prevent the fabric from unravelling.
  • Thread finishing: the weft ends are sewn in by hand with a needle at the selvedges, avoiding joining knots in the fabric.
  • Fringes: knotted.
  • Washing: hand-washed with natural soap to check the quality of the fibre and the final size. During the first wash, the fibres settle and the fabric reaches its final measurements. With subsequent hand washes, it will not shrink further.
  • Ironing: hand-steamed to enhance its finishes, drape and texture.
  • Brushing: brushed by hand to give it an even softer, more pleasant feel.

To keep your piece as impeccable as the first day, please follow these care recommendations:

  • Washing: hand wash with mild detergent and cold water.
  • Drying: wrap a towel around the clothesline, secure it with two pegs, and hang the piece vertically to avoid marks and make ironing easier if needed.
  • Ironing: no special care is required; in general, use the temperature recommended by your iron for the type of fiber. If the piece contains more than one fiber, always choose the lowest temperature.
  • Storage: keep your piece in its box or bag, so it is always ready to use.
