We, Ana and Francis, are the founders of the quiet luxury artisan brand Ana y Francis Tejedores, created in 2007. We are a small artisan textile business, born from a vital need and a dream: to turn this craft into our way of life, integrated with nature.
Our workshop is in the Sierra de Segura, in the old forest house “El Pilarillo”, in Orcera (Jaén), within the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. From here, we design and weave on our looms with a clear commitment to honesty and excellence as our starting point.
I studied Social Labour Studies and, after almost 15 years working in administration for private companies, I came to this craft after a deep reassessment of life. I needed to change. I left my salaried job and attended a basic weaving course. Fully aware and determined, I bought my first loom, specialised technical books and began to weave.
Over these years, I have created our own style and working method. Since childhood I have been very meticulous; during my student years I learned pattern-making and sewing techniques from my mother, a modest and perfectionist “village dressmaker”. Today, as a professional handweaver on looms, I apply that knowledge to the finishing of my pieces.
After several years working in public and private companies, Francis was preparing for the examinations to become an environmental officer. He also left everything behind to accompany and support me in this new stage we began together.
He has a special sensitivity towards nature, its cycles and respect for the life of all its inhabitants, flora and fauna. He also has a very personal and careful eye for colour, light and chromatic combinations, which he brings to photography and to textiles. His ability to combine shades and colours comes close to poetry. He also has a calm patience and infinite wisdom that help sustain the day-to-day rhythm of our work.
Together, we shaped a work project born from that vital need and that dream, turning it into our life project. A textile workshop devoted to weaving on artisan looms, where each piece is born from our hands, our experience and our way of understanding the world. A way of working based on honesty, calm and respect for excellent handmade work as a real possibility for moving through the world.
As a luxury artisan brand, passionate about design, the loom and natural fibres, we have specialised in handweaving on non-mechanised artisan looms. We work with 100% natural, organic or recycled fibres, selected for their quality, their touch and their coherence with our way of producing.
Inspired by the nature around us, we design and weave timeless pieces for fashion and home, bespoke textiles and textile artwork. Our work stands out for the diversity of weaving techniques and the quality of the designs, the fabrics and their finishing. As textile artists, we have a line of textile art inspired by how lived experiences, emotions and feelings condition social and personal behaviour. As an accredited Master Craftswoman, I teach individual and intensive weaving courses on different looms. They are designed both for those who want to learn as a personal interest and for those seeking serious training with a professional purpose. You can see them here
